Heavy sounds of explosions have, mid night, woken residents of Maiduguri, the northeast Nigeria capital of Borno state as suspected Boko Haram terrorists launch yet another nocturnal attack.
Though details of the attack is still scanty, some of the residents who are now keeping vigil are guessing the attack may be coming from the same direction through which the town was attacked on Friday night.
An airforce jet was heard piercing through the dark skies as residents cringe in fear of not being hit by RPG pumped into the town by the insurgents.
A scared resident, Yahaya Garba, hushed over his phone as he lamented that "We really don't know from where this is coming. But our fear is about this new trend of hauling grenades in to the town - it makes everyone a target".
Samaila Ayuba, a resident who lives at the western flank of the city said "We are under siege, it seems very close to us now. The shooting is quite deafening. Please we need prayers".
Abbas Gava, an official of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria in Maiduguri called in to say "it seems the Boko Haram terrorists have returned and are attacking through the same direction in Dala-Lawanti axis"
Most military officials contacted were not picking their calls.
Boko Haram had on Friday the 29th May staged a major attack on Maiduguri by firing dozens of RPGs into the town which caused the death of at least 16 people mostly women and children, and destroyed number of homes.
Details on this to come later...
