Boko Haram steps up attack on Maiduguri as Nigerian new President relocates army headquarters to the City

At least 30 persons have been confirmed dead, and scores others badly injured as Boko Haram launched different attacks using RPGs and suicide attack on Maiduguri and its hapless citizenry in less than 24 hours. 

Nigeria's new President has in the first minutes of his assumption of office issued a marching order to the country's military command to relocate its office to Maiduguri the epicentre of the Boko Haram and remain there until the last of the terrorists were wiped out and of course the missing Chibok school girls rescued. 

If the General -turned Politician's order is to be taken to the letter, the military command should by now be moving its office and paraphernalia up to Maiduguri, the Borno state capital. 

But it seems the Boko Haram insurgents too have listened/watched the new president giving the order. Hence the stepped up attack on Maiduguri using the most deadly engagement - Pumping RPGs into the city of Maiduguri at night.

Following the heightened attacks and seizure of communities by Boko Haram terrorists, Borno state government had hearkened to a military advice to dig deep trenches and use the sand dug out to build a sand wall that would form a naturally barricade that could prevent Boko Haram from running over the capital city. 

The trenches that have now encircled the entire city of Maiduguri covering a land mass of 140 sqkm with only the major highways that heavily manned by armed soldiers and civilian-JTF serving as the only allowable entry into the city. 

Boko Haram whose most of attack were made possible by their easy invasion of towns and villages using trucks, vans and motorcycles always found it extremely impossible to make an invasion into the city of Maiduguri. 

During their last attacks, the insurgent decided to come with only RPGs with which they bestially pumped into the city from outside the trenches. 

Many civilian residential areas were hit by the deadly weapons which shattered most of the houses and killing innocent residents who were deep in sleep. 

A gory photo of a little dead girl who appeared to have been ducking by burying her head under the chair would chill any beholder. Her back skull was ripped off showing the whitish membranes of her brains. Many other gory corpses could not be described even in writing. 

Barely 15 hours after the occurrence of the above incident, a male suicide bomber chose a crowded mosque and detonated himself while the Muslim traders were observing the late afternoon prayer. More than 20 person were said to have been killed, even though official figures said 16 dead and many others badly injured. 

Despite these ugly trend of renewed hostilities, residents of Maiduguri still hope for a quick end to the years of bloodlet with the new government's promises and assurances.
