In Gwoza, witnesses said the terrorists are no longer sparing anyone including the very old ones that were trapped in the captured towns. Soldiers had on the same day walked over the bodies of killed Boko Haram as they celebrated the repulsion of an attack on Bulabulin village in Damoba local government area of Borno state.
Witnesses said 75 members of the insurgents died during and exchange of gunfire while hundreds others took to their heels leaving behind booties of vehicles, motorcycles and arms for the soldiers to pick.
Having suffered that major defeat in Bulabulin, an agrarian village not more than 40km away from Maiduguri, the insurgents regrouped and launched another attack on Damboa town itself, where they reportedly killed three persons while soldiers on guard there killed dozens and again chased several others fleeing back to the bushes.
On the same day at about 6pm, another gang of Boko Haram terrorists stormed Damagum village in Yobe state shooting and forcing residents to flee - some into their homes, and others headed into the surrounding bushes.
As at the time of filing this report the attack on Damagum has not subsided , even though a resident of the town Mallam Yusuf said it appeared the insurgents may have taken over the town as they continued to hear the sounds shooting.
"Mamudo too may be under attack now"said Yusuf who was speaking with lowered voice barely audible. "I called on friends there who said all is not well there too as they too are fleeing on hearing distant gun shots".
