Reports filtering from Damagum, the headquarters of Fune local government area of Yobe state indicate that the Boko Haram terrorists who had attacked the community at about 6pm yesterday, may have inflicted serious damage there, even as there was not human casualty recorded.

A soldier working in Damagum, who spoke but wouldn't say his name to avoid offending his superiors said the attackers were repelled after they had torched a police station and barrack as well as the old site of the local government secretariat including the military base.

"We repelled the attack on Damagum, but they only succeeded in burning the police station, the old local government secretariat and part of our base…they did not attack Mamudo, they mere pass through the area while fleeing", said the soldier.

According to our source, Saidu Yusuf, a business merchant based in Damagum, the gunmen had attacked and torched a military base station in the town as well as burnt down the local government secretariat.

"We are still indoors, but we have information that they burnt down the secretariat complex and also attacked the soldiers base located just outside the town on the way leading to Potiskum.
