Information filtering in to Maiduguri from conquered territories of the Boko Haram suggest that Boko Haram terrorists are shifting their main base from the rocky Gwoza township to Bama town.

According to officials of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria in Maiduguri,  the terrorists were seen by residents in Bama trooping into the town in trucks and motorcycle, a development that has increased their presence in the area.

Muhammed Abbas Gava, a spokesman of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria in Maiduguri said fleeing residents that arrived the state capital recently said the insurgents number has increased beyond what was obtainable in the past months.

He said the insurgents were led by a top notch leader of the Boko Haram known as Amir Bakura, who controls both Gwoza and Bama axis.

"Some of the residents of Bama that fled into Maiduguri said they saw and recognised Bakura,  who used to be a corn merchant at the popular Baga Park market before he disappeared some years back to join the Boko Haram", said the Vigilante official.

Echoes News cannot immediately get explanation for what could have caused the purported shift of base by the Boko Haram insurgents.

Details of development would be filed in on any further developments.
