Nigeria soldiers, local hunters gun down 150 Boko Haram terrorists in Northeast

At least 150 armed persons suspected to be Boko Haram terrorists were gunned down in a fierce battle between a combined troops of the Nigeria army and local hunters  against the outlawed  insurgents in a located community between Borno and Adamawa states, military sources and witnesses said.

This was coming barely 24 hours after the Nigeria army had issued what it tagged ‘a last warning’ to the Boko Haram insurgents, asking them to surrender and submit selves to trial in accordance with the laws of the country. 
Boko Haram terrorists have continued to hide in the rocky and mountainous terrains around Gwoza and Madagali areas which are usually difficult to traverse especially during the rainy season.
The army had said that the unfavourable whether conditions of the areas had somehow slowed down the pace of the counter insurgency operation dubbed ‘Operation Lafiya Dole’.
On Tuesday, troops of the Nigeria Army led by local hunters who deployed their native knowledge of the terrain to detect the hideouts were able to invade the enclaves of the Boko Haram, engaged them in a deadly shoot, kill over 150 and rescued civilians held under captivity. 
Witnesses said women and children were led to freedom as soldiers recovered cache of arms and munitions from the decimated terrorists. Also recovered from them were 155 cows and sheep believed to have been rustled from poor herdsmen. 
Jimeta Bukar, an ace hunter, who participated in the operation with the Nigeria troops told journalists on phone from Madagali  that  “We succeeded in killing at least 150 Boko Haram members, recovered four AK 47 riffles, seven hand grenades, six locally made EIDs, 15 double barrels, and set free 36 captives including women and children”.
 Brig Gen V. O. Ezugwu, the Commanding Officer in charge 28 Task-force Battalion Mubi, Adamawa State, confirmed the incident to journalists in Yola, even as he added that 16  families were also rescued. He said the operation was carried out on Tuesday night. 
“Over 100 cows, alongside two AK 47, six grenade, two pump action machine guns and 18 motor cycles were recovered from the fleeing insurgents”, he said.
