Nigeria's Chief Of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai, has re-echoed his assurance to citizens that the ultimatum issued by Aso Rock for the military to end Boko Haram's insurgency by the end of December still remains achievable.

Two months to the deadline, Buratai still has his eyes on the target despite what the

public perceived as depoloration of situation with the recent epidemics of suicide bombing in the northeast.

Addressing officers and men in Jos today (Sunday) when he paid a working visit to  the 3 Division, Nigerian Army Jos, Plateau state, the Borno state born war General said the military had stepped up the fight against the Boko Haram.

"The tempo of the operation has increased alongside the number of troops and the equipments had all increased.
Our strategy and operational plans have continued to evolve with the daily challenges that we have.’’

He said the recent heightened  spate of bombings by the group in some cities, especially on soft targets in the recent weeks are signs of desperation from a weakening group of insurgents.

"The army, in conjunction with other security agencies, is studying the pattern of attacks  and would soon be able to quickly find a solution to the spate of bombings.
We commend the soldiers in the battle front for doing very well so far and we urge Nigerians to support the fight by providing useful information to security agencies"

While reiterating his vision for a  more professional and more responsive army  to its responsibilities, the army chief said major steps have been taken to ensure that "medical facilities are improved upon, because the army will do better with healthy officers and men".
