The arch-opposition party in Nigeria,  All Progressives Congress (APC), had on Monday donated 100 bags of rice to Borno state government as its support for the feeding of  internally displaced persons (IDPs) forced out of their communities by Boko Haram terrorists.
The National Welfare officer of the APC,  Dikko Umaru Radda,  who made the presentation on behalf of the party’s national headquarters said curbing  insecurity and wanton destruction of lives and property would be the top priority of his party once voted to power.
He said his party was concerned by the worsening plight of the people of North east Nigeria as such they chose to offer their widow's mite in support of the efforts being made by the Borno state government.
Borno is controlled by an APC government.
Deputy governor of Borno state,  Zannah Mustapha who received the food items on behalf of the state government appreciated the party even as he lampooned the ruling party of the central government,  PDP, of insensitivity to plight of the people of Borno state.
He took a swipe at PDP politicians in the state for returning to the state to seek votes ahead 2015 general elections after "fleeing the state and abandoning the people for over three years.
APC has made similar and equal presentations to the northeast states of Adamawa and Yobe.
There are well over 200,000 Boko Haram induced IDPs currently being camped at various locations in Borno state.
