Nigeria soldier killed as troops run into terrorists ambush near Damboa

As both sides continued to ignore the ceasefire deal purportedly signed by officials of the federal government and leaders of Boko Haram on Friday, a soldier of the Nigeria army got killed in an ambush attack launched on troop near Damboa town in Borno state, security officials said. 

The terrorists had on Tuesday morning ambushed troops of the Nigeria army moving along the dangerous Maiduguri - Biu highway and killed one soldiers, security sources said. 

Soldiers believe it was a reprisal attack follow the death loss the terrorists suffered on Sunday night when the latter attemted to invade Damboa.  Soldiers were able to kill 35 Boko Haram members and recovered several arms and munitions. 

“Our troops were on their way to Damboa this morning when the insurgents ambushed them. We lost one soldier,” the source said.
