Mubi a bubbling commercial town of Adamawa state had Tuesday fell into the control of Boko Haram gunmen who did not only sack the entire town and hoisted their flags, but also killed soldiers and large number of civilians, witnesses and security sources said.

Though the government of Nigeria still insist that it is having a ceasefire talk with the Boko Haram, the insurgents had since that declaration some two weeks ago sustained its violence with an increasing thirst for blood, as well as expanding the territory of their so-called New Islamic caliphate.
Mubi is the latest of towns in the northeast Nigeria that now has the Nigerian flag lowered and the Boko Haram black and white flag flying.
Residents who managed to escape the carnage said the insurgents simply walked over the army there as they barbecued the hapless civilians.
Mubi's attack came almost at the same time that folks in Uba town of Adamawa state was also being attacked. Though details of Uba is still sketchy at the time of filing this report, it is feared that some lives may have been lost.
A young lady who begged not to be named in this report as she still fear for her life said her maternal uncle was amongst those killed in Mubi. She called him 'Uncle Charles'.
"My uncle, Charles Joseph was killed today as he was trying to escape belatedly. The man that killed him picked our call to Uncle Charles' phone and told us that he was Boko Haram and that 'the owner of the phone has been killed'.
Fleeing residents said Boko Haram had since hoisted their flags in the town, and that corpses of slain fleeing residents still litter the town and bushes around Mubi.
Mubi is the home town of the Nigeria’s Chief of Defense Staff, Air Marshal Aleh Badeh.
Soldiers in Mubi could not hold their fort as they fled their barracks, and left their amoury opened to the Boko Haram who now take control of the town and the military barracks.
Just like the cases are of Bama and Gwoza where first-class monarchs were sacked from their domain and their palaces now being controlled by the Boko Haram, so has the insurgents now take charge of the palace of the Emir of Mubi His Highness Abubakar Isah Ahmadu.
The monarch was said to have been absent in the palace during the attack; but some of his family members may have been trapped within.
