The city of Damaturu, Yobe state capital is under serious attack by Boko Haram terrorists. 

Residents in the city called to inform journalists that deadly explosions and gunshots continued to blaze on since 8pm this night. 

A top security officer in the state confirmed the attack to Echoes News. 

Scared residents are asking for prayers for God's protection, as the insurgents were trying to attack the town from all angles. 

Damaturu is 135km west of Maiduguri, the Borno state capital where the Boko Haram ideology was birthed about six years ago, which is eight years after a similar insurgent sect was nipped in the bud in Yobe state town of Kanama in the year 2001
