UPDATE:- DAMATURU UNDER ATTACK BY BOKO HARAM, BLASTS, SHOOTINGS

UPDATE:- The jet fighter of Nigeria airforce has been confirmed by residents in Maiduguri to have arrived Damaturu at,about 7:20 am and has since been engaging the terrorists. 

Resident,  Malam Abdulmalik told this Blog that "We are hearing the sound of the aircraft hovering above our houses, and we hear deafening explosions too We also hear from the distance voices chanting Allahu akbar. We hope to remain alive".

AN HOUR EARLIER....

Information reaching this blog few minutes ago indicate that the town of Damaturu,  Yobe state capital is under serious attack as bomb explosions and multiple gunshots echoes all over,  forcing residents to flee. 
"We are in serious confusion now,  we are just hearing gunshots and explosions on the southern part of the city and people are fleeing",  said an embattled resident,  Malam Abdulmalik.
The resident said he was woken by the shots and blast which started at about 6am,  and he suspects Boko Haram may be attacking. 
Damaturu is 135 km West of Maiduguri,  Borno State capital.
