Authorities at the Nigeria Army headquarters in Abuja have warned Nigerians to be wary of misinformation by some online media outfits who were recently claiming that a published photos of dead persons in military outfits are of Nigerians troops slain by Boko Haram.
While the army says it has commenced investigation to ascertain the source of the disturbing remains of charred uniformed men, it reiterated its earlier claims that soldiers of the 157 Battalion in Gudumbali have regrouped and are currently charging into the enemy dens after some setbacks early this week.
"That information is not correct said spokesman of the Nigeria Army, Colonel Sani Kukasheka Usman.
Colonel Usman made this clear in a brief statement that what was being published in a new online medium was an ill conceived plot to misinform the public.
"The Nigerian Army would like to inform the public that it is aware of a photograph of alleged "Slain missing soldiers" released by an obscure online news medium called "Large News Live" trending on the social media.
This is not correct.
This is not correct.
"Nevertheless, the Nigerian Army is investigating it with a view to unravel its source and motive. We wish to reiterate however that the troops of 157 Task Force Battalion have reorganized and are now countinuing their operations against the Boko Haram terrorists".
