Authorities at the Nigeria Army said they have"uncovered " what it described as plot by ‎identified bodies to commence spurious claims of human right violation in order to frustrate gains being made by soldiers in the ongoing war against Boko Haram.

The Army said it does not understand the drive behind such motive, but said it was clear that the said group are not pleased that soldiers are for once winning the war against the bloody Boko Haram.

In the northeast Nigeria, Boko Haram, a group at a ppint was rated to be more armed than soldiers have caused ‎the death of well over 4000 persons and displaced nearly two million since 2012 when the group resumed it's bestial hostility. It's major target are civilians and uniformed personnel.

Boko Haram had in 2014 up till very recently lord over a 'conquered' territory comprising about 22 local government areas of three northeastern states of Adamawa, Borno and Yobe.

Spokesman of the Nigeria Army, Colonel Sani Kukasheka Usman, ‎in a press statement, though professionalism and protection of human has been the watchword of soldiers ‎currently executing the counter insurgency operation in the northeast, a certain group are plotting to launch a human right abuse campaign using the foreign media.

"It has come to our knowledge that some foreign media, Nongovernmental and Civil Society Organizations in collaboration with some of their Nigerian affiliates and Civil Society Organizations for reasons best reasons best  known to them are about to start making false claims of alleged human rights violations by the Nigerian Army", said Colonel Usman.

"It is clear that these group of people and their collaborators  are not happy with the progress made on the efforts to solve the security problems bedevilling our nation as manifested in the terrorists activities.

"The implication of such act is not lost on us as it is capable of thwarting the gains in the  fight against terrorism and insurgency.  In addition, these unscrupulous and unpatriotic elements are far less concern about the general well being of our citizens. They are driven by material and pecuniary gains.

"The Nigeiran Army would like to reiterate and renew its commitment to upholding human right principles and practice. We have been protecting human rights and we are not party to any breach  of human rights in our country or during any of our operations.

"We would not condone any Human rights abuses. Where there are allegations of human rights violation by any individual or group, this would be thoroughly investigated and those found guilty would be brought to book in accordance with extant laws.
Therefore, the Nigerian Army would not succumb to blackmail and neither would it be distracted from its determined effort of defending the territorial integrity of our great nation and safeguarding the security of its citizens.

"We would continue to solicit the support of well meaning Nigerians in this regards".
