Nigerian soldiers making laudable gains on Boko Haram camps, raid camps, free captives

These are not happy days for Boko Haram terrorists, as soldiers of the Nigerian army  sustain offensive on several hideouts and camps of Boko Haram terrorists in different parts of Borno state. 

In the last 24 hours, many camps of the Boko Haram had been raided by combat-ready soldiers who would either gun down Boko Haram terrorists there, or rescue innocent civilians that were held there by the insurgents.

About 71 innocent villagers, most women and children got their freedom after nearly one year of inhuman captivity by the Boko Haram terrorists.

Soldiers have during the operations on the camps discovered cache or arms, underground storage of grains that has been serving as a reservoir of grains suspected to have been stolen from various parts of Borno state amongst others. 

Spokesman of the Nigerian Army, Sani Kukasheka Usman, a Colonel, confirmed the development even as he described the Chuogori and Shantumari camps where the underground silos were discovered as one of the biggest camps. Many of the terrorists fled the camp as soldiers overwhelmed them with superior weapons, while many others got killed as well.

Colonel Usman said the operation in Chuogori and Shantumari were carried out by 21 ARmoured Brigade and some elements of the Nigeria Army Engineers. 

In Kilakisa village in Damboa local government area of Borno state where Boko Haram gunmen lorded over over trapped villagers who could not flee to the state capital, Maiduguri, soldiers had on Tuesday rescued 12 aged villagers after a heated gun battle.

Earlier the Spokesman of the 7 Division of the Nigeria Army, Maiduguri, Colonel I.T Gusau, said the 21 Battalion  of the Division took a raid to Kashimbiri and Walimberi villages which had been camps of the Boko Haram terrorists. 

He said the troops engaged terrorists in hours of shootout during which scores of the insurgents were killled. 

"Our gallants troops hav rescued a total number of 59 civilians in two camps of the terrorists groups in Kashimbiri and walimeri villages respectively in Konduga local government area of Borno state", Col, Gusau said. 

''Those that were rescued including 25 children, 29 women and 5 elderly men in the above mentioned villages. 

''Many of the terrorists were killed in the course of the operations, but mob up is still going on so as soon as we have the figure, it would be made known to you". 

The rescued persons said they have been under the bondage of Boko Haram terrorists who held in the villagers for nearly one year.

''I never knew I would be free again because I have spent months in the camp of the terrorists so I was waiting for death. They often threaten to kill us each time they notice we were not pleased with staying with them, or if they suspected that we wanted to flee. So we had to stay with them all the while. They give us food, but usually not very enough for the day", said '‎ Ya'gana Kyari, wjhp said she was taken from her villager Kawuri, about 50km away from Maiduguri, to the camp in Walimberi.
