Angry mob burnt a supposed female suicide bomber

By Blogger

A female suicide bomber who could not detonate her explosive that was hidden under her garment was yesterday given  a terminal punishment when angry youth put a ring of tyres on her and summarily set her ablaze.

The incident happened on Sunday afternoon at Muda Lawan Market,  a popular trading centre in Bauchi town.

The woman who were heavily covered with hijab (an Islamic overall garment of decency) refused to be screened by market security officials armed with metal detecting instruments, as she insisted on going into the market despite her disobedience.

"When noticed that she was being stubborn, one of the boys on guard angrily lifted up her veil and alas we saw a cache of items that looked like improvised explosives made of bottles, wires and some wrapped items,  all connected.  That was how people took the risk of being killed by the explosives as they pounced on her. She was later worn tyres and immediately set ablaze", said trader who spoke anonymously.

The incident occurred barely 24 hours after two women believed to be suicide bombers got themselves and two innocent persons killed in Ngamdu village of Borno state, as they were waiting for a commercial vehicle to take them to Damaturu the capital of Yobe state.

Witnesses said the women may have been armed with timed bomb that eventually got detonated having failed to get a bus to take them to their destination on time.

A smart bus driver who suspected their unusual looks pretended he was not going to get to Damaturu and then he quickly zoomed off. The women exploded minutes after the bus driver left. The two of them got killed along side two innocent travellers also waiting to catch a bus.

The incident had drawn concerns all over the northeast Nigerian states as residents worry over how women in hijabs are being deployed as war heads of Boko Haram's new trend of attacks using explosives.
