Thunderous blasts, shooting kept residents of Mubi awake

By Blogger

Residents of Mubi, the town 40km away from Michika where Boko Haram reportedly abducted some 40 women fortnight ago say they kept night vigil as heavy sounds of explosion echoed in from the latter community.

"I have just called my brother in Mubi who told me that they did not sleep all night because they were kept awake by continuous sounds of blasts and heavy shootings coming from around Michika area", said Yakubu Zira, a local provision store operator.

"He said they have never heard of such thunderous sounds in a very long time," he added.

This Blogger gathered, though not yet confirmed by the authorities, that the military may have been engaging the terrorists some where near Michika.

Zira said his family have since fled Michika and made it to Mubi, a journey of about three days,  through the rocky jungle.

"I have deployed my younger brother to Mubi with a vehicle to convey my mother and my younger sister to Maiduguri here so that I can have a rest of mind", he said.
