Boko Haram suffers heavy casualty in Madagali air force bombardment

Though the Nigeria military has not officially confirmed it, reports filtering last suggest that Boko Haram terrorists that attacked the town of Madagali in Adamawa state, yesterday where they hoisted their flags after sacking the residents may have suffered heavy casualty when a Nigerian Airforce alpha-jet dropped several bombs at them at the outskirts of the sacked town.
Madagali came under attack at about 10am when the Boko Haram terrorists who mobilised in their large number invaded the town riding on six armoured tanks and several trucks mounted with heavy munitions, eyewitnesses said
Echoesinn gathered from top security sources in both Borno and Adamawa state that while soldiers in the area engaged the terrorists in hours of shootout, an order was sent across for the ground troops to retreat, as the airforce Alpha-Jet was on its way to tackle the insurgents.
Shortly after the troops withdrew, the airforce alpha-jet arrived Madagali where it dropped several bombs that destroyed four of the armoured tanks in custody of the Boko Haram, and killed several members of the attacking insurgents at a spot between Madagali and Gulak towns.
An official of the Nigeria police mobile force, who managed to escape the attack told Echoesinn reporter that only two of the six armoured tanks that the Boko Haram gunmen brought to Madagali was able to make it into Madagali, because the airforce jet coiuld not drop bombs on it while within the crowded civilian settlement.
Though many residents of Madagali town could had to flee from the town during the attack, the over 4000 displaced Gwoza refugees that are camping at a primary school in Madagali were not affected.
“They came heavily mobilised in their hundreds, driving six armoured tanks and several trucks; our men and soldiers tried to engage them for several hours. It was a heavy fighting until an order came that the troops on ground should immediately retreat because the Airforce Alpha-Jet was on its way. Immediately after the troops had withdrawn, the jet came and engaged them by destroying four of the tanks and killed several of them outside Madagali; but unfortunately two of the tanks founds their ways into town and the jet could not fire at them because of the civilians within”, said the police source who wanted anonymity in this report.
Meanwhile , a police office on the mobile force was confirmed to have been killed during the attack that claimed several lives including those of the terrorists.
