Boko Haram attack Damasak, kills over 50 traders residents

At least 50 persons comprising traders and local residents may have died as Boko Haram terrorists who disguised as traders attacked Damasak town of Mobbar local government of Borno state went wild shooting at will, sources in the sacked border town said. 

It is not certain if the terrorists had taken over the town, but fleeing residents said many houses were being burnt down as at the time they were running for their lives.

A fleeing resident of Damasak, who pleaded anonymity in this report, told this blogger that "many young men and females were also being bundled and hauled into a truck, which make us to feel they may not stay in the town, even though all the soldiers and members of the civilian-JTF  too had fled into the border areas of  neighbouring Niger Republic".

A vigilante officials said many corpses of the the victims were left unattended as everyone desert the town that was up in flames as Boko Haram torch several houses, shops and vehicles.

Damasak is about 182km northwest of Maiduguri, the Borno state captial.
