Lucky Chibok said "the terrorists came to the community at the time they were having the sunday morning church services and asked all women and children in the churches to step out while the men remain inside the churches….; then the opened fire on them, many got injured, many died…about 35 died inside the churches while over 50 were found in the bushes.".
Two communities in Chibok local government council of Borno state, namely; Kwada and Kautikari were attacked on Sunday, 29th June, 2014 between the hours of 8am and 11 am.
Five churches were attacked.
EchoesInn later gathered that the attackers were led to the villages by a young man from Kwada who is a member of the Boko Haram group. The young man according to Mr Gava had been living with his parents for a very long time in a town called Monguno, about 160km northeast of Maiduguri, until his mother decided to return the family home after the demise of their father.
"The boy was living with his uncle in Kwada, but he was fond of stealing things around the home and even from neighbours", Gava narrates. "But one day when he repeated another theft, the uncle slapped him in anger, and the young man vowed to punish the uncle and his people with the visit of Boko Haram. Before then there were rumours that the young man had been a member of Boko Haram. His uncle did not take him serious and the boy disappeared for days. His return back to Kwada was with the Boko Haram members, because many villagers in Kwada said they saw him leading the attackers from one house to the other".
